Surrogacy Program - stages

Surrogacy Program in Georgia: Full cycle overview

1

Surrogacy Program – Initial contact

It is very easy to put this process in motion. All you have to do is get in touch with our international patient coordinator via telephone or e-mail to exchange the necessary information.  At the next stage, if necessary, a Skype appointment with the doctor may be scheduled.

2

Contract execution

After coordinating and agreeing service terms, the couple and IVF Tours Georgia will sign the service contract.

3

Service payment

After the execution of a contract, the agency is remunerated for its services based on an established time period.

4

Selecting a surrogate mother

After the execution of a contract, to access the database of surrogate mothers, you will receive your passcode to select a surrogate mother of your choice.

5

Medical examination of a surrogate mother

After selecting a surrogate mother, our partner organization, the ReproART Center, will perform a thorough medical examination on her. The surrogate mother will complete special tests defined in the internal standards of our partner center. The cost of the examination at the ReproART Center is covered by the couple.

The positive assessment of a surrogate mother’s health by the ReproART doctor marks the selection of the surrogate mother by the couple.

6

Preparation of future mothers and surrogate mothers with medications

After having selected a surrogate mother, the menstrual cycles of the surrogate mother and the future mother are synchronized so that the embryo may be transferred into the future mother’s uterus with a properly prepared endometrium.

If endometrial preparation for a future mother takes place in Georgia, the waiting period is 14-16 days although she can prepare in her home country under the supervision of a reproduction medical doctor of her choice and travel to Georgia only two days prior to the aspiration procedure. In such case, the ReproART reproductive endocrinologist and the patient’s doctor of choice maintain constant contact and treatment with medications and monitoring are carried out jointly.

7

Surrogacy Program – Visit to Georgia

The compilation of preparation with medications marks the beginning of your initial IVF tour to Georgia.

The initial visit includes:

  • Taking care of legal processes
  • Completion of the egg aspiration procedure
  • Collection of male sperm

Taking care of legal processes

The couple’s stay in Georgia will last 1-5 working days, just enough time to take care of all administrative procedures. The patient coordinators for IVF Tours Georgia will assist you every step of the way, ensuring the timely and successful completion of your surrogacy program.

  • The couple or their authorized person is expected to visit Georgia to sign the service agreement with IVF Tours Georgia
  • The contract between the surrogate mother and the couple (or their authorized person) must be executed and notarized
  • In parallel, the medical service contract is signed with the ReproART Center

8

Egg aspiration procedure of future mother

As ovarian follicles grow sufficiently enough, follicle aspiration is performed on the future mother, a procedure lasting only 15-30 minutes. After a few hours of rest under the doctor’s supervision following the procedure, the patient is discharged to return to her everyday activities. A follow-up ultrasound test is done a week later and the doctor examines the future mother.

9

Embryo transfer

The couple can spend the day of embryo transfer in the country of their residence because this procedure at the ReproART Center is performed on the surrogate mother. The international patient coordinator for IVF Tours Georgia keeps the couple constantly updated on the process of the embryo transfer.

The best embryo is transferred into the surrogate mother’s uterus with a thin catheter in 3-5 days after fertilization under ultrasound monitoring. This painless procedure takes only a few minutes.

In cases of successful IVF procedures, embryos are kept in the laboratory for a period between 2 and 5 days or sometimes even up to 6 days. On the 5th day, the embryo develops into a blastocyst, this process allowing for the selection and transfer of 1-2 embryos, which is done to avoid multifetal pregnancy that is harmful for the surrogate mother and the fetus. The remaining embryos are frozen and may be used for achieving pregnancy in the future.

10

Successful pregnancy

A pregnancy test is performed 9-11 days after the embryo transfer.

11

Compensation and accommodation for the surrogate mother

After achieving pregnancy, the surrogate mother’s health is monitored and relevant medical procedures are performed at the ReproART Center in line with American standards. The process is coordinated by the IVF Tours Georgia team of coordinators with updated information about the surrogate mother’s health provided for the couple on a regular basis.

The surrogate mother’s compensation and accommodation are covered by the couple according to the contractual schedule.

For regulating legal issues, the couple must be in Georgia on the day of childbirth.

There is more! We offer you an alternative process to further simplify the procedure for you and help you save even more!

If the couple is unable to travel to Georgia for surrogacy program, the legal aspects must be regulated by their authorized person who signs the contract.

If the legal aspects are taken care of by the couple’s authorized person and the couple does not plan to visit Georgia until the childbirth, the biological samples (frozen sperm and mother’s egg cells) must be delivered to Georgia while the couple can travel to Georgia only to pick up their child.
